Jack was born on January 30th, 1917 in Rodley Leeds Yorkshire.1   Jack's father was Harry Thornton and his mother is Emily Jane Whittaker.  His paternal grandparents are Albert Thornton and Hetty Bateman; his maternal grandfather is William Oliver Whittaker. He had a brother and a sister, named Harry and Phyllis Irene.  He was the youngest of the three children.  He died  due to 1a Stroke II Ischaemic Heart Disease Certified by S Srivastava MB at the age of 86 on November 23rd, 2003 in Leeds General Infirmary Yorkshire.  His burial was on December 3rd, 2003 in Lawnswood Cemetary Leeds  Yorkshire (cremated).2 2
