Harry was born in 1893 in Farsley  Leeds Yorkshire.1   Harry's father is Albert Thornton and his mother is Hetty Bateman.  His paternal grandfather was Joseph Whitfield Thornton and his paternal grandmother is Hannah Isles; his maternal grandfather is John Bateman. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Whitfield, Randolph, Frank, Louis and Agnes.  He died about 1920.2
