Harry was born on September 21st, 1913 in Rodley Leeds Yorkshire and his baptism took place on March 28th, 1915 in St Andrews Rodley Leeds Yorkshire.1 2   Harry's father was Harry Thornton and his mother is Emily Jane Whittaker.  His paternal grandparents are Albert Thornton and Hetty Bateman; his maternal grandfather is William Oliver Whittaker. He had a brother and a sister, named Jack and Phyllis Irene.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 74 in March 1988 in Yorkshire.  His burial was in Rawdon Crematorium Yorkshire (Cremated).3 1
