Ebenezer was born in Welton East Yorkshire and his baptism took place there on September 27th, 1807.1   Ebenezer's father was Thomas Garton and his mother was Phebe Wilson.  His paternal grandparents are Robert Garton and Rebecca Fox. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Robert, Thomas, William, Ebenezer, Rebecca, Mary and Mary.
