Ebenezer was born in 1818 in Welton East Yorkshire and his baptism took place there on August 9th, 1818.1 2   Ebenezer's father was Thomas Garton and his mother was Phebe Wilson.  His paternal grandparents are Robert Garton and Rebecca Fox. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Robert, Thomas, William, Ebenezer, Rebecca, Mary and Mary.  He died at the age of 67 in June 1885 in Workhouse Beverley Road Hull.3
