Samuel was born on June 20th, 1839 in St Lukes Middlesex.  Samuel's father was Samuel Spillman (Twin Spinner) and his mother was Susannah Phoebe Perry.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas (twine spinner) Gt Yarmouth-Bethnal Gree Spelman  and Mary Foster; his maternal grandparents were William Perry and Ann Frances Bland. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Thomas, Henry, Edward, Hyrum, Joseph, Susannah, Mary, Rachael, Anne and Camelia.  He was the second oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 77 on April 9th, 1917 in Pocatello, Bannock, Idaho.  He was buried in Logan. Cache, Utah, USA.

Samuel and Mary were married in a religious ceremony on June 20th, 1839 at St Matthews Bethnal Green by Curate John Gibson and witnessed by Willma John Grew & George Ricks Ames.  They had two sons and three daughters, named Samuel, William, Mary, Emma and Susan.
