William was born on May 7th, 1849 in Barking Essex. William's father was Andrew Quash (Fisherman) and his mother was Charlotte Ship. His paternal grandparents were Andrew Quash (pos born Exeter) and Elizabeth Hall; his maternal grandparents were Samuel Ship (Blacksmith) and Mary Elizabeth Duffield. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Andrew, John, John, Alfred, Joseph, Albert, Lizzie, Mary, Alice and Kezia. He was the third oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 49 on January 30th, 1899 in Grimsby. The funeral took place on February 2nd, 1899. He was buried on February 2nd, 1899 in Scartho Rd Cemetery Grimsby.¹
