John was born on May 3rd, 1849 in Barking Essex.  John's father was Andrew Quash (Fisherman) and his mother was Charlotte Ship.  His paternal grandparents were Andrew Quash (pos born Exeter) and Elizabeth Hall; his maternal grandparents were Samuel Ship (Blacksmith) and Mary Elizabeth Duffield. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Andrew, William, John, Alfred, Joseph, Albert, Lizzie, Mary, Alice and Kezia.  He was the second oldest of the eleven children.  He died at 1 months old on June 18th, 1849 in Northbury House Barking.  The funeral took place in June 1849 at St Margaret's  Church Barking.  He was buried at St Margaret's  Church Barking.1
