William was born about August 1815 in Barking Essex and his christening took place on September 3rd, 1815 at St Margaret's Barking.1 2  William's father was James Pollard (net maker Fisherman) and his mother was Jane Malpas. He had three brothers and five sisters, named James, Alfred, Alexander, Sarah, Caroline, Jane, Elizabeth Eliza and Jemima.  He died in September 1868 in Barking Essex.  He was buried in 1868 at St Margaret's Barking.3
