George was born on August 20th, 1887. George's father was Richard Montague Payne (Draper) and his mother was Eliza Cooke. His paternal grandparents were William (of Chalfont St Peters) Payne (Porter/ Drayman) and Margaret Weedon; his maternal grandparents were George Richard Cooke (Wire Rope Maker) and Mary Ann Purfer Crawford. He had a brother and a sister, named Sidney and Beatrice. He was the youngest of the three children. He died at the age of 53 on May 23rd, 1941.
