John was born on March 29th, 1814.  John's father was Nicholas Moungall and his mother was Anne Chipperdale (widow).  His paternal grandparents were John {Shopkeeper} Moungall and Elizabeth {2nd wife} Brown. He had a brother and two sisters, named William, Jane  and Ann.  He was the youngest of the four children.
