Rachel was born on December 20th, 1853.

  Died between 1901 census and 1911 census. Age given as 48 in 1901 census which would make her Date of Birth as c1853.  But death certificate in General Registry Office gives her as 55 in 1907 = 1852.  If I have the right marriage, her parents were married in May 1853, so she cannot be born in 1852.

  I note she was two months premature.
  
  Kirkinriola seems to be the parish that includes Ballymena, not a place within Ballymena.
  
  There is no trace of William McKay in Kirkinriola in the GV.
  
   

Rachel's father was William [Monaghan] Mackey and her mother was Matilda [Bellaghbeddy] Boyd.  Her paternal grandparents were Edward Mackey and <Unknown>; her maternal grandparents were John Boyd and Elizabeth ????.  She was an only child.  She died at the age of 53 on September 13th, 1907.

• General Notes

  Married at Rasharkin Church of Ireland on 27th Sep 1877 according to marriage register.  Called herself Georgina, residence given as Lishegan.  Her husband sometimes called her Rachel and sometimes Georgina when he registered the births of their children.  Called Rachel in death certificate. 
  
  Norman Bellingham, her grandson, says that his father showed him her trunk which she had used on a visit to Canada (but it may have been the US because Norman confused the two in another context) and that it had the letters, "RGM" on the lid.  Norman thought this stood for Rachel Gamble McKay and looked very sceptical when I told him that her middle name was Georgina.  Another example of the unreliability of oral evidence?  It is also worth noting that he called her MACKie, not McKaaaay.
