This man may be a brother of my Jane Finlay. He and Jane were living in Gortycavan when their daughter, Jane, was born, only two weeks after Samuel McClamond and Jane Finlay produced their son, Thomas, in Gortycavan.
His civil marriage entry confirms that he was the son of my John Finlay of Ballystrone.
From SS: Matthew Finlay born 1846 married Jane Matthews 7/11/1863 at the Coleraines Registrar's Office. They had a second ceremony 5/1/1864 at the 2nd Dunboe. Matthew was the son of John Finlay, a laborer from Ballystroan.
According to the 2nd Dunboe Presbyterian Church records of 5/1/1864, Matthew and Jane Finlay of Gortycavan were rebuked for fornication.

Mathew Finlays birth date should have read 1841, a type-o. Death cert-died 7/18/1907, Gortcorbies, Drumachose, married 67 year old farmer, heart disease, daughter, Elizabeth, reported his death.
1901 census- Gortcorbies, Mathew, age 60, agricultural laborer, presbyterian, leased a house from Samuel George, Jane, wife, age 50, daughter Elizabeth, age 18, grandson Robert Vincent, age 12. SS writes: Robert is my grandfather.
Jane died 3/25/1908, Gortcorbies, widow, heart failure, daughter Elizabeth reported death. Death info Belfast Registrar's Office.
