Macosquin Presbyterian Church Baptismal Register has: Matthew, Eliza and John Finlay, children of John and Mary Anne Finlay of Ballystrone, baptized 22/12/1841.
General Notes
Source: Civil Record of his marriage in 1866; I have made him a brother of my Jane because his father was called John and he gave his residence as Ballystrone. He said he was a farmer, the son of a farmer.
The births of his children show that by 1867, he was in Ballinrees, by 1872 he was still in Ballinrees but by 1874, he had moved to Blakes.
There are no Finlays in the 1901 census Blakes and none in: Dunalis, Liffock, Articlave, Ballystrone, Fermoyle, Farranlester, Bratwell, Ballinrees. There is a James Finlay in Churchtown, Henry Finlay in Knockmult, Thomas Finlay in Kilcranny, Margaret Anne Finlay in Ballyhackett Magilligan, Samuel Finlay in Kiltinnet Lower.
There are no Finlays on the online Rolls of Honour for either 1st or 2nd Dunboe Presbyterian churches.
There are no Finlays in PRONI's online Calendar of Wills.
