Source: Civil Record of marriage where he is a schoolmaster from Ballyclough, son of an Andrew Boyd, farmer. He is married to a lady from Cullycapple. I have also seen his marriage record in Aghadowey Presbyterian Church where he is from Ballyclough, the son of Andrew Boyd. However, in the first three baptisms of his children, he is described as being from Collins. Then one is born in Maghera according to a record on the LDS website.
In an 1858 Education Commission Report, a Thomas Boyd was teaching in Collins school and had been teaching for ten years. This would make him born circa 1828, which would NOT make him the youngest son of Andrew Boyd, as LG implies in her email to me of 2004.
A Thomas Boyd held a house and a small garden of 25 perches in Collins in the Griffiths Valuation. This might be him. This Thomas Boyd holds House 1e from Maria Wilson (who must have inherited the bleach green from John Wilson) - a House and garden: 0/0/25, 0/5/0, 0/15/0, 1/0/0.
The GVRBs show this man being scored out in 1886 and replaced by Robert Blair.
I cannot fit the GV Thomas into any other data. He cannot be the Thomas of Killykergan because he died in 1859 and he cannot be the Thomas of Collins who emigrated in 1852 because he would not be in the GV and the GVRBs.
He could also be the Thomas Boyd who features in both the 1831 Census and the TAB:
The 1831 Census shows three Boyds living in Collins: Alexander, Thomas and William, living in Houses 22, 23 and 24 respectively. Thomas lived in a household of 3 males and 6 females.
The TAB for Aghadowey shows the following:
Collins: John Wilson, Esq.,let to Thomas and William BOYD(20), Alexander BOYD (10).
