John's father was John [Collins] Boyd and his mother was Margaret Boyd. He had five brothers and two sisters, named William, Hugh, Thomas, Joseph, Alexander, Elizabeth and Mary.General Notes

Is it possible that this John might be the father of the John married to Margaret in Crosscanley? The dates would fit, he has to live somewhere, he might explain the John Snr in the 1831 Census and his wife's name might explain why John has a grandson called Gage. YES! Looks like it - see below!!
