The 1831 Census shows three Boyds living in Collins: Alexander, Thomas and William, living in Houses 22, 23 and 24 respectively. Alexander lived in a household of 3 males and 2 females, all Presbyterian.
The 1833 TAB for Aghadowey shows the following:
Collins: John Wilson, Esq.,let to Thomas and William BOYD(20), Alexander BOYD (10).
There is no Alexander Boyd in the GV so he must have passed his land on by the 1850s. The only Boyd in Collins in the GV is a Thomas Boyd.
From BB: Rough ideas about Lismoyle Boyds:
John Boyd born abt. 1775 marr unknown but still living in Lismoyle in 1831 Census? Sons: 1. Alexander born about 1805 (married twice- and moved to Collins and poss is the one in 1831 (3m and 2f) and 1833 TAB there (not GV) and then left for America after 1842 (see Molly's confirmation below in Boveedy.) 2. Joseph born about 1801 and died about 1835. He is in Census and TAB in LISMOYLE but died young acc to LG and his 3 children went to America with Alexander, his brother. Molly, his daughter, I believe, is having a first communion in Boveedy Church in 1842. (Both an Alexander and Joseph had first sons named John acc to LG).
BG:
So, what you seem to be saying is this:
Gage Boyd lives next door to Sarah Cooke Boyd (her Cooke link is a red herring).
Sarah Cooke was the wife of William Boyd.
William Boyd may have been the son of Henry Boyd.
Henry also had a son called Hugh Boyd so William may be a bro of Hugh.
Hugh had a son called Joseph Alexander Boyd, which suggests links to an Alexander Boyd who moved from Lismoyle to Collins circa 1830 and later emigrated to the US with the sons of his dead bro Joseph.
Gage Boyd of Collins may be descended from the same Boyds as Alex and Joseph and this is why he is back living in Lismoyle in 1901 - because Alex and Joseph came from lismoyle and the woman who he is living next door to was married to a William who may be the bro of a Hugh, who called one of his kids Josepg Alexander?
Some questions:
What is the source for John of Lismoyle having two sons called Alexander and Joseph?
(Answer - LG did not name a father but said that Alexander Boyd and Joseph Boyd were brothers. The eldest son of both A and J was a John. Alexander's John was by his first wife Susan Gilmore. Joseph and his unknown wife had John (who married a Blair), Molly (who I believed is documented as receiving first communion in 1842), and Alexander. Both Joseph and his wife died young and Alexander went to America with them.)
How is Alexander of Lismoyle, whose father may be a John Boyd of Lismoyle (and still there in 1831 census), linked to the John Boyd of Collins? Is John Boyd of Collins NOT from Collins at all, or did he move as well?
Source LG via MB - lineage of John of Lismoyle:
6. Alexander Boyd m.1 Susan Gilmore, m.2 ___. Child: John.
BB: I have these baps for Henry Boyd and Jane Bolton of Lismoyle:
1.Hugh- baptized in 1843
2.William - baptized and born on Dec 28, 1846. He may have died and we may be dealing with another son William who married Sarah Cooke - Can we get their marriage record?
3.Daniel Henry - bap Mar 17, 1854
