Source: LG using the Boyd Family Notes has him as married to Jane ???? with sons, John and Thomas, and these four feature on a gravestone in Aghadowey Church of Ireland church, which gives Thomas' address as Killykergan. And there is indeed a Thomas Boyd in Killykergan in the GV.
This is from LG via Mike Boyd:
Most of the Boyds of Aghadowey descend from John Boyd of Lismoyle who came to the Collins c1750. He married his cousin Margaret Boyd and had the following family:
1. John Boyd m. Malsey Gage & had: Andrew, John, Jane, Thomas, Nancy, Mary, Elizabeth, Jane, Thomas.
2. Hugh Boyd m. Catherine McNeill & had: John, Nancy, Mary, Margaret, Catherine, James, Betty, Joseph, Hugh, Martha.
3. William Boyd (c1776-1848) m. Nancy Gage & had: John, Kennedy, Andrew, Margaret, Nancy, Thomas*.
4. Thomas Boyd (c1787-1859) m. Jane & had: Thomas, 2 daughters, John.
5. Joseph Boyd- 3 children.
6. Alexander Boyd m.1 Susan Gilmore, m.2 ___. Child: John.
7. Mary Boyd m. William Spence & had: John, Joseph, William, Thomas.
8. Elizabeth Boyd m. ___ Starritt- family.
Linda Gilmore in an email in 2004:
""From the Boyd family notes I was given:
"Thomas, the fourth son of John Boyd of Lismoyle and The Collins, had four children by his Marriage, two sons and two daughters, viz., Jack, who married Miss McNeill of Drumcroon, and had a family; William (LG says this is a typo and it should be Thomas - 03/03/2008), who had a wife and family and lived in Drumcroon, Aghadowey; Margaret, who was married to a Mr. Brewster and lived in Dromore."
Margaret's brother William was born c1867, so there should be a record of a Boyd-Brewster marriage as Margaret Boyd would have married "Mr. Brewster" long after 1845.""
Boyds in the GV:
Boyd Andrew Ballyclough
Boyd Edward Aghadowey
Boyd Edward Ballynacally
Boyd Hugh Ballybritain
Boyd Hugh Mullaghinch
Boyd John, Jr. Crosscanley Glebe
Boyd John, Sr. Crosscanley Glebe
Boyd Kennedy Killeague
Boyd Margaret Ballygawley
Boyd Thomas Collins
Boyd Thomas Crosscanley Glebe
Boyd Thomas Killykergan
The Thomas Boyd in Killykergan in the GV vanishes from the GVRBs by the second book which is consistent with his death in 1859.
There is also a Thomas Boyd in both the 1831 Census and the TAB, which could be him BUT, he would have to move to Killykergan by the GV and there is another Thomas in the GV, which cannot be this man as he does not ger scored out of the GVRBs til 1886.
There were no Boyds at all in Killykergan in either the 1831 Census or the TAB.
LG: Thomas Boyd, son of John & Margaret (Boyd) Boyd, born c1787, died 11 Feb.1859, Killykergan, m. Jane (c1796-27 Dec.1852).
1. Thomas Boyd, Boston, m. __ Morrow.
2. dau.
3. dau.
4. John “Jack” Boyd, Boston, m. _ McNeill.
1. William Boyd (c1867) m. Nancy & had family.
2. Margaret Boyd m. _ Brewster, Dromore.
There is another tumbled stone beside the one for Hugh Boyd in Ballylintagh Presbyterian Church which says:
"Erected by Thomas Boyd of Bosto.........
in memory of their beloved father..............
this life on 7th December 1865
............ aged 59years"
There is no Boyd death recorded in Civil Records of a man aged 59 in 1865. However, Hugh Boyd DID have a brother Thomas, whose sons DID indeed go to Boston - BUT, they have erected a stone to their father in Aghadowey Church of Ireland church which says:
"Erected by
John and Thomas Boyd of Boston USA in memory of
their mother, Jane Boyd, who departed this life, 27 December 1852, aged 56 years
their father, Thomas Boyd, stone broken in half here
Killykergan, who departed this life, 11 February 1859, aged 72 years" How there can be two Thomas Boyds of Boston returning to the same part of Ireland and erecting stones to fathers who have only slightly different dates of death is an unresolved mystery.)
