Elwood was born on May 7th, 1918 in Pennsylvania.1 Elwood's father was Samuel C. Wray and his mother was Lotta Edna Groner. His paternal grandparents were William Wray and Eliza C. Chittick; his maternal grandparents were William Groner and Louisa Kunsman. He had a brother named William. He was the younger of the two children. He died as an infant, Cripple from Birth, at just 28 days old on June 4th, 1918 in Johnsonville. The funeral took place on June 4th, 1918 in Johnsonville and was arranged by Horton Funeral Home.
