Fanny's father was Thomas Webster and her mother was Elizabeth Livingstone. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Webster and Margaret Baxter. She had six brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, David, Hugh, James, James, George, Margaret, Margaret and Agnes. She was the fourth youngest of the ten children.
