George's father was Richard Turner and his mother was Isabella Smith.  His paternal grandparents were John Turner and Janet Marshall. He had six brothers and two sisters, named John, Robert, Richard, Robert, Peter, William, Janet and Isabella.  He was the second youngest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 61 on April 19th, 1924 in Western Australia.
