Susan's father was James Towers and her mother was Susan Munro. Her paternal grandparents were James Towers and Annabella Ferguson. She had four brothers and three sisters, named John, James, William, John, Annabella, Mary and Jessie. She was the youngest of the eight children. She died in Kent.
