William was born on February 14th, 1808 in Paisley and his baptism took place on February 21st, 1808 at High Church, Paisley.^1 2

William's father was William Tours and his mother was Janet Fulton.  His paternal grandparents were Michaill Towrs and Agnes Stewart; his maternal grandparents were William Fulton and Jean Urie. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named William, William, James, Michael, George, John, Alexander, Cecilia, Agnes and Margaret.  He was the fourth youngest of the eleven children.  He died due to natural causes or old age, General debility, 3 months, paralysis of bladder, at the age of 74 on February 3rd, 1883 in Paisley.³
