Margaret's father was Archibald Thomson and her mother was Katrine Eaglesome.  Her maternal grandparents were Archibald Eaglesome and Marion Fulton. She had three brothers and three sisters, named William, James, Andrew, Marion, Agnes and Mary.  She was the third oldest of the seven children.
