Jeanie's father was Robert Shaw and her mother was Janet Wason. Her paternal grandparents were James Shaw and Jane Wason; her maternal grandparents were Alexander Wason and Margaret McCrea. She had five brothers and two sisters, named James, Alexander, Robert, William, Thomas, Mary and Helen. She died at the age of 62 in 1950 in Glasgow.
