James' father was
Alexander Rennie and his mother was
Janet Ross. His paternal grandparents were
James Rennie and
Janet Stronach; his maternal grandparents were
James Ross and <Unknown>. He had a brother and two sisters, named
David,
Jessie and
Euphemia. He was the second oldest of the four children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named
Peter and
Anne. He died due to a medical problem, Influx of brain, peritonitis, duration 5 days, at the age of 44 on January 17th, 1885 in
Glasgow.
