Margaret was born in 1888 in Paisley.1 2  Margaret's father was William Pirrie and her mother was Mary Towers.  Her maternal grandparents were John Tours and Anne Reid. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Hugh, William, James, Agnes and Mary.  She was the second youngest of the six children. She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Robert, Ann and Jane.  She died at the age of 74 in 1962 in Paisley.
