Agnes' father was Donald McLean and her mother was Janet Marshall McLellan. Her maternal grandparents were John McLellan and Agnes Turner. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Richard, James, Donald, Janne Eliza, Grace, Donaldina and Agnes. She was the oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 14 in 1874 in Urray.
