Jessie's father was Duncan Livingston and her mother was Anne Clarke.  Her maternal grandparents were James Clark and Janet Ross. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Duncan, Duncan, Janet, Jessie and Ann.  She was the third youngest of the six children.  She died at the age of 1 in 1858 in Glasgow.
