Janet was born on February 15th, 1852 in Barony parish.  Janet's father was Duncan Livingston and her mother was Anne Clarke.  Her maternal grandparents were James Clark and Janet Ross. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Duncan, Duncan, Jessie, Jessie and Ann.  She was the second oldest of the six children.  She died before 1857.
