William Hill 
William was born in 1835 in Shotts.1 William's father was Rev George Hill and his mother was Margaret Marshall. His paternal grandparents were Rev George Hill and Ann Hamilton; his maternal grandparents were James Marshall and Elizabeth Hamilton. He had two brothers and five sisters, named George, John, Hamilton, Margaret, Agnes, Anne and Anne.-
