James Higgins

James was born in 1854.¹

James' father was James Higgins and his mother was Janet Shaw.  His maternal grandparents were Thomas Shaw and Jean Scoffield. He had two brothers and two sisters, named James, Thomas, Janet and Margaret.  He was the oldest of the five children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, and also three half-siblings of unknown gender, named William, Mary, Jean, <Unknown>, <Unknown> and Shaw.  He died due to a medical problem, Croup, at the age of 2 on April 16th, 1856 in New Prestwick.  He was buried in Newton-on-Ayr.^1 1
