Jane's father was John Graham and her mother was Mary Robertson. Her maternal grandparents were George Robertson and Martha Carlton McGloughlane. She had eight brothers and three sisters, named George, John, Samuel, William, James, Hugh, Thomas, Hugh, Maggie, Martha and Mary. She was the fourth youngest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 38 in 1909 in New Cumnock.
