Elizabeth's father was George Glendinning and her mother was Elizabeth Johnston. She had a brother named George.  She was the younger of the two children. She had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Archie, Robert, Alexander, George, Maggie and Elizabeth.  She died at the age of 1 in 1882 in Penicuik.
