Margaret was born on September 14th, 1911 in Raphoe parish. Margaret's father was Robert John Gibson and her mother was Mary Ann Price.  Her paternal grandparents were John Gibson and Eliza Jane Wray. She had nine brothers and two sisters, named William, Samuel, Henry, George, Arthur, Ramsay, Campbell, Robert, John, Sophia and Eva.  She was the youngest of the twelve children.
