Sarah's father was John Galt and her mother was Isabella McAdam. Her paternal grandparents were William Galt and Margaret Towers. She had two brothers and a sister, named William, George and Margaret. She was the oldest of the four children. She died at the age of 90 on February 22nd, 1979 in Victoria, B.C..³
