Margaret's father was Archibald Galloway and her mother was Janet Galbraith.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert Galloway and Helen McLauchlan. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Robert, Archibald, James, John, Mary, Ellen, Janet and Janet.  She was the second youngest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 1 in 1869 in Falkirk.
