Archibald was born in 1827 in Airth.1  Archibald's father was Robert Galloway and his mother was Helen McLauchlan.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Galloway and Helen McLeod; his maternal grandparents were McLachlan and <Unknown>. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Archibald, John, Robert, Margaret and Mary.  He was the second youngest of the six children.  He died due to a medical problem, convulsions, at the age of 54 on January 9th, 1881 in Falkirk.2 3
