Archibald was born in 1814 in Airth and his baptism took place there on December 2nd, 1814.¹

Archibald's father was Robert Galloway and his mother was Helen McLauchlan.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Galloway and Helen McLeod; his maternal grandparents were McLachlan and <Unknown>. He had three brothers and two sisters, named John, Robert, Archibald, Margaret and Mary.  He was the oldest of the six children.  He died before 1841.²
