Euphemia's father was William Frew and her mother was Euphemia Robertson. Her maternal grandparents were Thomas John Robertson and Elizabeth Jamieson. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Robert, William, James, Mary, Elizabeth and Annie. She was the second youngest of the seven children.
