George's father was George Dick and his mother was Margaret Paul.  His paternal grandparents were David Dick and Janet Grant. He had a brother and four sisters, named David, Margaret, Janet, Mary and Eliza.  He was the second youngest of the six children.  He died at the age of 72 in 1915 in Uphall.
