Flora's father was Thomas Bone and her mother was Janet Mcgrigor.  Her paternal grandparents were David Bone and Margaret Smith. She had five brothers and two sisters, named David, Thomas, William, Daniel, Thomas, Margaret and Janet.  She was the oldest of the eight children.
