Thomas Rawlings was born on January 17th, 1796 in Little Cub Creek, Charlotte, Virginia.  Thomas Rawlings' father was Benjamin Wilkins Marshall and his mother was Sarah Pulliam.  His paternal grandparents were John Wilkins Marshall Sr and Hannah Baldwin; his maternal grandparents were <Unknown> and <Unknown>. He had four brothers and four sisters, named John Henry, James Pulliam Pullam, Benjamin Wilkins, Presley, Elizabeth Rawlings, Hannah B, Sarah W and Catherine Wallace.  He is the seventh oldest of the nine children.
