Martha was born in 1838.  Martha's father was Ambrose Riggs Marshall and her mother was Cynthia Roby.  Her paternal grandparents were Jesse Franklin Marshall and Catharine. She had four brothers and eight sisters, named Singleton, Leonard, Isom Isam RIggs, Nelson, Matilda Ann, Louisa, Martha, Nancy, Cynthia, Nancy, Catharine and Malinda.  She was the eighth oldest of the thirteen children.  She died at the age of 12 in 1850.
