Mark Jr was born about 1781 in Nelson  Co.,  Kentucky.  Mark Jr's father was Mark Marshall and his mother was Rebecca Boceay Coy.  His paternal grandparents were John Marshall and Deborah LNU; his maternal grandparents were John from Old Town Hundred MD Coy Sr and Sarah. He had five brothers and four sisters, named James, Robert, John, Daniel, Benjamin, Phoebe, Rebecca, Deborah and Hannah.  He was the oldest of the ten children. He had three half-brothers named James, Garrett and Thomas.
