    In the name of God amen... I John Marshall of the County Nelson & State of Kentucky being in perfect health but calling to mind the uncertainty of human life, do make and ordain this my last will and testament (that is to say) principally & first of all I recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty god who gave it and my body I recommend to the earth from whence it came and as touching such ____ Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life. I give _____ and dispose of the same in the following manner Amen Viz.
    
    I give and bequeath unto my son Robert Marshall the sum of five shillings current money of Kentucky.
    I give and bequeath unto my daughter Ellinder Williams the like sum of five shillings like money.
    I give and bequeath unto my son Mark Marshall the like sum of five shillings like money and all my remaining clothes.
    I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Blues ? the like sum of five shillings like money.
    I give and bequeath unto my son John Marshall the like sum of five shillings like money.
    I give and bequeath unto my daughter Hannah Chambers the one half of my Estate of lands Money or stock or what ever it may consist of after paying the aforesaid legacies and ____.
    I give and bequeath unto my wife Margaret Marshall the other half my estate whatever it may consist of after paying the legacies as was said before for use and benefit forever to be by here truly possessed and enjoyed.
    I also _____ and appoint George Burkhead to be my sole executor of this my last will and testament and I do hereby revoke and discount all and every other former testament, will, legacies, Bequeaths, and executed by me in any wise mentioned wills and bequeaths Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty sixth day of July one thousand eight hundred.
    
    NB It is my plan that Jesse Williams  my grandson should have a horse saddle and bridle out of my estate before it is _____ and in the manner mentioned above

    Hello,
    
    I am hoping someone can shed some light on my John Marshall and his two
    wives.
    
    My John died in Nelson County KY. I have a transcription of his will which
    names his wife, Margaret. However, his first wife, and mother of his
    children (or most of them) was a woman named Deborah. I also will post the
    Bible of Ahimaaz CHAMBERS who married John & Deborah's daugher, Hannah.
    
    I am hoping someone recognizes this family.

    *1788, May 28th, Know all persons by these presents that we Mark MARSHALL J
    Hen dewitt are held and firmly bound unto the comonwealth of [Virginia--this
    is the actual place listed and noted in the document] in the sum of Fifty
    pounds Current money to be paid unto the Commonwealth aforesaid to which
    payments will and (truly) to be made we bind our selves our Heirs __ Jointly
    (securly) & Firmly by these presents seal with our seal and dated this 26 day
    of May 1788. Whereas there us a Marriage Shortly intended between the above
    bound Mark MARSHALL & Bocea COY. (W. Marshall Van Meter believes the name
    is John COY'S attempt to spell Becky and is in effect Beceay--I agree) the
    condition of these present obligation is such that if there be no lawful

    Hello Marshall researchers!
    
    I am new to your list and in need of help for sure! I've been working on
    this Marshall line for years and can't break through the brick wall of where
    my John Marshall came from or who his parents were. He moved to Nelson
    County, KY in the late 1700,s abt 1788 or just before. Here's his Will. Can
    anyone indentify with this? I transcribed this just exactly as it appeared
    on the LDS film. Also, he was married previously to a woman named Deborah
    per Ahimaaz Chambers' Bible. Ahimaaz married Hannah Marshall, daugher of
    Mark Marshall who was the son of this John.
