Thomas was born about 1752.  Thomas' father was Gen. Andrew Lewis and his mother was Elizabeth Givens.  His paternal grandparents were John pioneer Lewis and Margaret Lynn; his maternal grandparents were Samuel Givens and Sarah Cathey. He had four brothers and two sisters, named John, Samuel, Andrew, William, Ann and Charles.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.  He died in December 1800.
