Méloir was born on October 1st, 1760 in Saint-Coulomb, Bretagne, France and his christening took place there on October 1st, 1760.  His godfather was Thomas  BASLE and his godmother was Michelle  MESLE.  Méloir's father was François BASLE and his mother was Julienne Nicole JAMET.  His paternal grandparents were <Unknown> and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Anthoine JAMET and Janne PINOU. He had four brothers named Jean, Thomas, Francois and Pierre.  He was the youngest of the five children.
