Joan was born in 1379 in Beaufort, Anjou, France.1   Joan's father was John (of Gaunt) England and her mother was Katherine De Roet.  Her paternal grandparents were Edward Plantagenet of England III and Countess Phillipa of Hainault; her maternal grandparents were Sir Payne (Paon) De Roet (Of Guienne) and Bonneuil Chenerailles. She had a brother named Fairborn.  She was the younger of the two children. She had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Henry, Thomas, Philippa, Elizabeth, Katherine and Blanchette.  She died at the age of 61 on November 13th, 1440 in Howden, York, England.  She was buried in Lincoln Cathedral, Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England.2
