Arthur Shirley

Arthur was born in 1541 in Staunton Harrold, Breedon, Leicestershire, England. Arthur's father was Francis Shirley and his mother was Dorothy Giffard. His paternal grandparents were Ralph Shirley and Jane Sheffield; his maternal grandmother was Dorothy Montgomery. He had three brothers and five sisters, named John, Edward, Ralph, Elizabeth, Cassandra, Mary, Alice and Anne. He was the third oldest of the nine children.
